I’ll never complain about the price of young coconuts again

New coconut I took “Flat Stanley” with my on my trip for my nephew – here is Flat Stanley with a coconut that fell from one of dads trees. He has 9 coconut trees in his back yard and when they fall, Sammy his dog likes to run off with them. Eventually Sam tears them up and leave husk all over the yard until dad picks them up and tosses them in the estuary.

I’ll never complain about the price of young coconuts again: I used a long bamboo pole with a curved blade at the top to yank down young coconuts. Which you have to be careful or they will hit you on the head! Then with a machete, I hacked off the outer husk, working up a sweat. Then I carved some more to get that “white” coconut look like the ones I find in the refrigerator section. Then I put it in a big stainless bowl to chop on the top to open it – I drained the water, scooped out the coconut and sat down for a rest. Whew, I’ll never complain about the price of young coconuts again.
